This week was another week spent working on my personal app, mostly in the usual rhythm. The difference this time was that I spent more of it writing code myself. Thankfully, enough of the groundwork was already in place that adding new features did not cause major problems, but the codebase has grown enough that I also needed to keep separating responsibilities more carefully. That gave me a good reason to spend time reading through the existing code again. I did not write every part of it entirely on my own, and some sections were built with AI help, so I ended up spending a fair amount of time rebuilding context and reading things carefully.
These days I use Codex more than Claude Code, so I think I’ll slowly start revisiting and rewriting some of the work I previously did with Claude Code in a way that fits my current Codex workflow better. Thankfully, v1.5 still looks possible within the deadline. WWDC26 is coming up soon, and once it starts, attention will probably shift toward new things like iOS 27. Because of that, I decided not to push myself too hard during that week.
v1.4 was mainly focused on accessibility improvements, and for that reason I also wrote a blog post for the first time in a while. It took longer than I expected, but I liked the process because writing it helped me review what I had done. It had been a while since I sat down and organized my thoughts by writing with my own hands, so I stayed up late into the night finishing it and eventually published it. Releasing the update and publishing the related post helped me clear a backlog one piece at a time, and that has been making me feel a little lighter.
Starting this month, I’m taking a short break from PT and focusing more on running for my health. But the muscles in my left arm that I hurt before feel strangely stiff again. If I type for too long, they start to ache. I’m not sure whether that’s because I’ve been doing more coding by hand again or simply because my typing time has increased, but it feels like something I need to keep an eye on for a while.
Early summer is here. Before it gets any hotter, I want to go outside and enjoy it more. I went for an early run with a friend, then had coffee and sandwiches at a cafe with an outdoor terrace, and it felt genuinely nice. Not everything difficult has been resolved yet, but I still want to make sure I have at least one day a week for moments like that and make it through the summer well.
