Week Note 11

Mar 9–15, 2026

I’ve decided to lay low for a while. My contract project is moving slower than usual, and I need to wrap up my personal project soon — it’s a time that calls for focus. Rather than talking about what I’m doing, I’d rather show it through results. So I’ve been waiting until work is done before saying anything, and keeping words to a minimum. I was never much of a talker to begin with, but this week I made a more deliberate effort to keep quiet.

My left arm is slowly regaining strength. I can now do 30kg deadlifts without straps — the forearm strength seems to be gradually coming back. It’s a long way from where I used to be, but seeing that incremental progress feels good. My arm is recovering, though the rest of my body seems to disagree. I felt heavy and run down all week, like I was coming down with something.

Work was a bit sluggish this week. I’ve been thinking a lot about AI-assisted programming lately — questions like how to properly verify AI-generated code, and who bears responsibility for it. I went back and forth on whether I need to review code more carefully, or whether I need to rethink my approach entirely. It was nice to come across articles this week from people wrestling with the same questions. Using those as reference points, I think I can gradually improve the way I work with AI going forward. I also bought an AI-related book for the first time in a while.

The Korean national baseball team advanced to the WBC quarterfinals after beating Australia in a tough situation — the score going 5-0, then 6-1, then 7-2 as the game unfolded. Holding onto the mindset of not giving up, all the way to the end, can’t have been easy. The players were incredible. We all face moments like that in life, and I think more often than not the urge to quit comes first. But maybe if you hold onto even a small resolve to keep going, you find a way through somehow.
