This week, I wrote the Q2 performance report and did some maintenance work on my personal website. The maintenance work was mostly updating dependency packages through Dependabot, which I have set up on GitHub. Q2 showed a bit more progress compared to Q1. The conversion rate was about the same, so it is more accurate to say that overall performance improved because impressions and traffic increased on top of a similar conversion rate, rather than because the app “converted better.” In the second half of last year, a lot of traffic came from Reddit posts. This year, I have not been writing on Reddit and have focused more on SNS posts instead. I took the same approach in Q2, but I am not sure whether the improvement came from ASO slowly getting better or from traffic through SNS posts. Still, I now understand a little more about what it takes to enter the paid app charts, and I confirmed that traffic is coming in through App Store search. I updated the ASO at the end of May, so I need to give it more time before judging the results. The next version will include a major feature, so I plan to polish and prepare it more carefully.
These days I have been reading a psychology book. I started reading it because, while looking at the book description, I realized I had gone through something similar. I wanted to understand what kind of situation it was and find some kind of answer, but the answers are actually things I already know well. Do not take it too personally, find a way to let it out, and so on. Things like that. But when it comes to myself, I do not think I am very good at putting those methods into practice. Or maybe I just wanted to feel comforted by reading the book. It has not been fully resolved yet, but I suppose things will slowly get better with time.
